TOIT association in Nepal

Indra président de l'association TOIT   1ers enfants de TOIT

Since its creation in 2000, the Nepalese humanitarian association TOIT (The Organization for

Indigent Tots) worked for the improvement of living conditions of children from Bhaktapur

enabling them to study, to own a place with electricity supply to do their homework and to

give them evening classes.

During our first trip to Nepal in 2004, we met Indra, the young president of the association

TOIT. He himself grew up as an orphan and had a French godmother who supported his

schooling, so he wanted to offer the same opportunity to underprivileged children thanks to

sponsorship.

He implements all means to find a lot of sponsors coming from Nepal or other countries

(France, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, the US...).

From that time, dozens of children have joined different schools from Bhaktapur and

Kathmandu. Sponsored children are followed by volunteers from TOIT who assist them on

their studies, to make sure they are serious and to maintain a connection between them and

their sponsor. They also can have a one-hour evening class, delivered by Nepalese or

strangers that came to help the association. We are convinced that the contribution brought

by sponsorships from Nepal or elsewhere is indispensable to give these children the keys for

a happy life.

Consequently, we did not stop to contribute to this collective effort through sponsorship and

different actions taken to help children to build a future full of dreams and goals to achieve!

Thus in 2005, a pilot school of height classes has been built: it welcomes today freely 150

children in need aged from 3 to 14 years old.

“Educating children to build a nation” this is the motto of the association TOIT.
